Harmony & Counterpoint
Private in-home lessons in Concord, Maple, Woodbridge, Thornhill.
Introduction
Harmony & Counterpoint with a professional
Harmony and counterpoint explain why music sounds the way it does: how chords move, how melodies fit together and how a piece is put together. Once a student understands this, learning new pieces, composing and analysing all get much easier.
These lessons suit performers who want to understand their repertoire, students preparing for theory exams or for college and university entrance, and anyone who wants to compose. We work on four-part writing, voice leading, chorales in the style of Bach and musical form, using examples from the music the student plays.
